What is Entry Level and Semi-Skilled?
This category is for workers engaged in specific occupations in the tourism, hospitality, and food processing sectors who are seeking permanent residency in British Columbia (BC).
Application Requirements for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
Work Experience
- Continuous full-time employment in the same occupation with the same employer while applying for permanent residency.
- This experience must be for at least nine months immediately prior to the application.
- At the time of application, the applicant must be receiving a wage equal to or greater than the average in British Columbia (BC) for that occupation.
【Caution】
- The visa for the past nine months can be any working holiday, post-graduate, or work visa, but does not include Co-op or off-campus work during student times.
Applicable Occupations
Only those engaged in designated occupations can apply for a nomination (nominate) to the immigration authorities of BC, jointly with their employer. In the Northeast Development Region, the occupation is not specified.
Academic Background
- Minimum education of high school graduation or higher.
- For education obtained outside of Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required as designated by the Canadian immigration authorities.
Language Skills
A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 4 or higher in an approved English or French language test taken within two years before applying is required.
Job Offer
- A full-time and permanent position offer from the BC health authorities is required.
- The offered occupation must be listed in the industry-specific occupation list.
Personal Assets
Applicants must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family while in Canada.
Intention to Reside
Applicants must intend to live, work, and economically establish themselves in BC after obtaining permanent residency.
In this category, an application for a nomination letter (Nomination) is made to the immigration authorities from BC. Being nominated by BC almost assures the acquisition of permanent residency.
Application Requirements for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled (Employer Side)
- Creating economic benefits for British Columbia (BC).
- The company’s headquarters and actual management are located in BC.
- The company has been established for more than one year.
- Employing at least five full-time (or equivalent) employees in BC (three employees if outside the Vancouver area).
- The employer offers the applicant a full-time permanent position and guarantees employment after obtaining permanent residency.
- The job offered is in a skilled worker occupation.
- The wage offer is at or above the average wage for the occupation in BC.
- The applicant has a valid work visa and has undertaken recruitment activities targeting Canadians, or has conducted prescribed Canadian recruitment activities for at least two weeks before the PNP application.
- There is a genuine need for the position.
Application Process for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
01Meet the Minimum Requirements of BCPNP for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
Applicants meeting the criteria register their profile in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Points (out of 200) are calculated based on the registered profile, allowing entry into the list.
02Receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA)
The ITA grants the right to submit documents for permanent residency. The immigration office conducts regular draws, selecting candidates from the pool based on their scores. If you don’t receive an ITA, you can remain in the pool for up to one year.
03Submit the BCPNP Online Application
Upon receiving the ITA, the applicant and the employer must complete the BCPNP application online within 30 days.
04Receive a Nomination from the Province
Once the BCPNP review is completed, the applicant will be notified of the results. A successful outcome is referred to as a nomination.
05Apply for Permanent Residency to the Canadian Immigration Office
If holding an ITA, the applicant must send the permanent residency application documents to the immigration office within six months of being nominated.
06Review by the Canadian Immigration Office
Once the application for permanent residency is submitted and reviewed, the applicant will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Resident (CoPR) letter, completing the application process.
07Landing
Once the permanent residency application is approved, the applicant will land in Canada and complete the process.
08Receive Your PR Card
After landing, the PR card will be delivered to a specified address in Canada within a few months.
