What is the Canadian Experience Class?
This is a permanent residency application category for people who have more than one year of work experience in Canada. Before applying, you must register for Express Entry and receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Canadian Experience Class Application Requirements
Work Experience
- Must have been employed full-time for more than one year in a skilled worker occupation within Canada, within the three years prior to the application.
- Work experience must be in an occupation at NOC skill levels (TEER) 0, 1, 2, or 3.
Applicable Skill Levels (TEER)
Skill levels are classified as follows within the National Occupational Classification (NOC) of Canada:

Skill Level 3 | Intermediate Technical Jobs Typically Requiring College Graduation, Less than 2 Years of Apprenticeship Training, or 6+ Months of On-the-Job Training |
Language Proficiency
For applying under NOC skill level 0,1, a minimum of CLB7 is required in an English or French language proficiency test designated by the immigration bureau, taken within two years before the application.

Applicants must plan to reside in areas outside of Quebec.
Application Process for the Canadian Experience Class
01Meet the Requirements for the Canadian Experience Class
You must meet all the application requirements for permanent residency.
02Register for Express Entry
Once you meet the application requirements, you need to register your profile online for Express Entry.
03Score Calculation and Entry into the Selection Pool
Your score is calculated based on your profile registration and you can enter the Express Entry selection pool.
04Receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA)
ITA is the right to submit documents for permanent residency application. The immigration office conducts regular drawings and selects candidates from the pool based on their scores. If you don’t receive an ITA, you remain in the pool for up to one year.
05Apply for Permanent Residency to the Canadian Immigration Office within 60 Days
Once you receive the ITA, you need to complete the permanent residency application within 60 days. Create an online application portal account, attach the necessary documents, and submit them to the Canadian Immigration Office. If you are aged 14 to 79, you will also need to submit biometrics (fingerprinting) and a photo.
06Review by the Canadian Immigration Office
Once the Canadian Immigration Office completes the review, the applicant will receive a letter called Confirmation of Permanent Resident (CoPR).
07Landing
Applicants outside Canada will enter Canada with the CoPR. Applicants within Canada can complete the landing process online.
08Receive Your PR Card
After landing, you will receive your PR card at a designated address in Canada within a few months.
